Join BACD and the Town of Whitby for Digital Durham Symposium 2018
A one day event for small businesses to learn about digital tools to grow their business.
Digital Durham was created through the partnership of the BACD (Business Advisory Centre Durham) and the Town of Whitby. This initiative is to help main street businesses use technology and digital tools to enhance their digital presence and to do business online.
“There is so much new technology that is hard for businesses to know what is going to help them in their small business”, says Teresa Shaver, Executive Director of the BACD, “which is how the idea of this event came about”. BACD has been working with Digital Main Street in Toronto and their online digital assessment that provides a report of recommendations of activities, tools and tactics that businesses can implement to help improve their digital presence.
Using the right digital tools can improve operations, staff communications, sales strategies and marketing plans leading to increased revenues. Many of the technologies are suited to small business and are often low cost providing a substantial return on investment. The Digital Durham Symposium is a showcase of a few of those technologies which can help businesses quickly increase their bottom line.
The topics being discussed include: How to use Google in your business, how to protect your online reputation, best practices for LinkedIn, mobile marketing, eCommerce and the important topic of cyber security.
At this event, Digital Main Street Toronto will introduce the new Digital Transformation Grant Program which provides main street businesses the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $2,500 to receive training and advisory support from Digital Service Squads across Ontario.
The event will take place at the Whitby Centennial Building from 8:30am to 4pm.
